Enlisted Design Honored in Fast Company's 2020 Innovation by Design Awards for Their Allbirds Fully Compostable Packaging Design
SALT LAKE CITY, October 21, 2020
Enlisted Design, a Pattern Company, and award-winning, industrial design, packaging, branding and digital design agency, today announced that its work to create the Allbirds Dasher compostable shoebox was honored in Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards for 2020 in the most innovative packaging category.
The awards, which can be found in the October/November 2020 issue of Fast Company, recognize people, teams, and companies solving problems through design. One of the most sought-after design awards in the industry, Innovation by Design is the only competition to honor creative work at the intersection of design, business, and innovation.
Continuing Allbirds’ commitment to pioneering shoes inspired by natural materials, Enlisted Design utilized 100% compostable materials to create the custom pulp molded Dasher packaging for a truly unique all-natural packaging solution. The custom-molded box is made of dry pressed black bagasse pulp, an innovative, compostable sugarcane product, and will house VIP Dasher orders. The inset information is printed with soy-based inks, making for the most sustainable, user-friendly packaging possible. The all-natural obround shaped packaging can even be used as a biodegradable pot for spring planting.
“In my opinion, Allbirds is doing more for the earth and sustainability than almost any other clothing manufacturer, which is why I was so excited when they approached us to create packaging that’s as green as their shoes,” said Beau Oyler, CEO of Enlisted Design. “Together, we were able to create packaging that is not only incredibly earth-friendly but is truly beautiful and adds to the overall experience of buying a new pair of shoes. It was a joy to collaborate with the Allbirds team on this inspiring project.”
“We need innovative design more than ever, and the 2020 honorees have brought creativity, inventiveness, and humanity to address some of the world’s most pressing problems, including the global pandemic, racial injustice, and economic inequality.
