Those looking to plant a garden in 2024 will enjoy lower prices on popular gardening tools according to new data from ecommerce accelerator, Pattern. The cost of gardening tools has dropped an average of 4% year over year.

Why it matters: With the weather warming up and Earth Day on the horizon, consumer demand for gardening supplies sees a natural increase. This year, gardeners can enjoy a reprieve from high prices as they plan for the seasonal bloom.

What we’re seeing: While inflation continues to be a top concern for consumers, the cost of most gardening tools has seen a significant drop from Q1 2023 – Q1 2024, with the following gardening tools experiencing the sharpest decrease in price:

  • Trowels decreased in price by 11% from Q1 2023 – Q1 2024
  • Composters -9%
  • Garden Shears -7%
