Moms—check your mailboxes. It's safe to say U.S. mothers might be getting more Mother's Day gifts from Amazon this year over last year. And it's probably due to online shopping habit changes from coronavirus.

Searches with "Mother/Mom" up 24% on Amazon

A Pattern analysis found user search terms containing "mother" or "mom" have gone up 24% this year compared to last.

We analyzed the top search terms and products containing the words "mother" and "mom" on the Sunday before Mother's Day in 2019, and the Sunday before Mother's Day in 2020. In 2020 there were 7,198 searches containing "mother/mom" compared to 5,801 searches in 2019.

When comparing Amazon's top 2020 Mother's Day gifts to top 2019 Amazon gifts, there's a clear shift toward Mother's Day gifts that are more appropriate for life (and a budget) in quarantine.

Amazon's 2020 list is dominated by more affordable books, digital subscriptions, and home-use gifts over last year's expensive, fashion-centric items.
