Tips and Tricks for Awesome Looking Product Images on Amazon

Images are one of the most enticing parts of a product listing on Amazon. When a potential customer visits your store, you have only seconds to convince them to keep looking at your products. Since product images can either make or break the success of your store, we’ve compiled some tips and tricks you can apply right now to increase conversions.

1. Know the rules

Before you get into the fun stuff, make sure you understand Amazon’s standards and requirements for product images. Amazon has high standards for product images, so pay attention to their specific rules about what you should and shouldn’t do. Understanding Amazon’s expectations will lay a solid foundation for the success of your product listing.

2. Good angles

When having your product photographed, make sure you share the most appealing and practical angles of the product. Customers like to see at least three different angles of a product.

3. Use real people in your images

The best way to inspire a shopper to buy your product is to make them feel something. It’s easy to activate someone’s emotions by using real people in your product photography. Humans naturally gravitate toward images with other humans, and this trick is likely to boost your conversions.

4. Invest in quality photography & editing

Think about it from your customer’s perspective: if they see a poorly edited image, what message are they internalizing about your products and brand? Your product might be amazing, but if your product photography and editing isn’t amazing, shoppers won’t give you the time of day. Here’s an example of poor quality and high quality images:

  You get the point.

5. Honest color-correction

When color-correcting your images, do not oversaturate or increase clarity of the image just because you feel like it. You’ll want to edit your images to appear as close as possible to what the product looks like in real life. That way your customer isn’t surprised or disappointed once it arrives.

6. Prioritize your images

Amazon allows sellers up to nine product images per listing. Although you aren’t required to use all nine slots, we’d recommend you utilize them all. The images section on an Amazon listing is one of the first places a buyer looks to get information on the product. Start with your first image showing a straightforward, clean image of the product and use the next slots to show additional angles of the product, key features, close-ups, etc.

Include Photos Of Your Product In Use

7. Include photos of your product in use.

Customers want to be able to clearly imagine themselves using a product before they spend money on it. Using lifestyle and action shots of your product in use will communicate the versatility and different applications of your product. Using in-action images will help customers better understand how to use your product and why they should buy it.

8. Recycle customer questions

Take a look at your customers’ FAQs and find ways to visually answer the most common questions in your product images. Often this means incorporating the answers to those FAQs into an diagram of the product. The less questions a customer has to ask, the easier it is to click “Add To Cart”. With these new tricks up your sleeve, you’ll be able to increase conversions, entice new customers, and stand out from the crowd with a beautiful and helpful product gallery.
