EAF Pattern solutions

At Pattern’s quarterly Executive Acceleration Forum (EAF), surrounded by the beautiful winter landscape at the Montage at Deer Valley, in Park City, Utah, top brand leaders discussed current challenges they face on digital marketplaces and identified possible solutions. From the EAF attendees, we learned that regardless of the brand’s product category, the challenges brand executives face are remarkably similar.

Global brands are facing a slowdown of their growth and profitability on Amazon and other marketplaces. As the world’s foremost ecommerce accelerator, Pattern works with brands in similar circumstances and uses its data, proprietary technology, and expertise to accelerate its partner brands on Amazon.

Do your brand’s challenges align with what we are hearing from other brands? Read about brand’s top pain points and Pattern’s solutions:

Lack of Marketplace Control

EAF executive attendees mentioned their struggles with marketplace control in many different aspects such as dealing with unauthorized sellers, pricing issues, MAP policy violators, and channel conflict. Dealing with these issues can be a frustrating process, which if left undone, can lead to price erosion, poor consumer experience, negative reviews, and an overall feeling of frustration from your ecommerce team.

Solutions

At Pattern, we refer to lack of marketplace control as the Profitability Death Spiral. At the EAF, Pattern experts shared with brand leaders how to get out of the death spiral and regain control.

A large part of gaining back control includes finding unauthorized sellers, which Pattern’s proprietary software helps brands identify. Once unauthorized sellers have been flagged, you and your legal partners can then enforce your MAP policy and take back control.

Deciding Between Amazon 1P and 3P

EAF attendees discussed the pros and cons of being a 1P or 3P seller and what that transition might look like. Attendees asked questions such as:

  • Why should I switch to 3P?
  • How is 3P different from 1P?
  • How long does the overall process take to switch to 3P?
  • What are the requirements for switching to 3P?
  • How will switching to 3P benefit my brand long-term?

Solutions

As the top ecommerce accelerator and 3P partner on Amazon, Pattern knows there’s no “one way” to sell on Amazon—it all depends on your products, capabilities, and goals. Pattern simply helps brands weigh the pros and cons of switching to 3P with accurate data, such as their true costs of 1P, so that executives can make the best decision for their brand.

International Growth Challenges

As brands consider expanding to international marketplaces, it can be intimidating to tackle all that needs to be done to go global. Many of the brand executives attending the EAF mentioned they struggle with:

  • Knowing when to start selling on global marketplaces
  • Deciding which locations to start selling
  • Choosing which marketplaces to sell their products
  • Cultural incompetencies and local market expertise
  • Lack of resources to gain a competitive advantage
  • Losing revenue and funds

Solutions

Pattern’s global experts from multiple regions agree the key to successful international growth is in an existing ecommerce strategy. The problem is not all brands have the resources necessary to design a great strategy.

Pattern provides resources to all their brand partners such as regional experts, international Amazon knowledge, data concerning the logistics of going global, and more. Pattern’s data-driven insights help brands succeed on international marketplaces, rather than losing revenue and funds. So whether you want to try selling on Amazon globally or expand to other international marketplace such as Tmall in China, Pattern can help.
